History

Our beloved grandmother, Catherine O’Grady, migrated from Ireland to the United States in 1908. It was quite a change from the county of Roscommon, Town land of Cloondarcarra Beg. She began working as a housekeeper at the esteemed Rockefeller Estate in Westchester County, where a young gentleman by the name of Irving Sherwood immediately won her heart.

On October 10, 1909 Catherine married the love of her life
and the O’Grady-Sherwood
family grew rapidly in a “true Irish fashion”.

Catherine’s amazing love and dedication to her family, her compassion for others and her strong work ethics are what inspired us as a family to bring you O’Grady’s Public House.
